5) Environmental issues

Here I'm more ignorant than I'd like. I'm going solar because I believe it will reduce my impact on the environment and still let me lead my relatively sumptuous lifestyle. I've heard a lot of sound and fury about the solvents used in making PV's, the energy required, etc. I'd like to hear your questions on this. Let's try to avoid conspiracy theories and finger pointing. Let's just set forth the facts. That's the best answer anyway...

I have several articles that show that all current PV technologies will produce more energy than goes into their manufacture. I'm trying to get permission from the authors to reprint one of their articles in it's entirety as part of the FAQ.

I still do not have good information on the chemicals used in PV production, their hazards, provisions for their containment, disposal, or reuse. I'm actively seeking any such information on any and all chemicals used in PV manufacture.
